checkups are important as they help detect underlying conditions

Many Indian women avoid getting a daily routine checkup done for the fear of the discovery of a serious medical condition! While this may sound ridiculous, it is quite true and sad as these routine medical checkups often end up saving lives which would have otherwise been lost to ignorance.

A recent example of the same would be women’s tennis legend, Matina Navrotilova, who discovered that she had breast cancer during one such check up. She rues the fact, that she skipped 4 annual checkups or her cancer would have been detected even earlier. And with no plausible permanent cure for cancer available on the medical horizon as of yet, prevention sure seems much more feasible than a cure!

Sometimes no matter how hard we try, we can’t help but catch that flu going around, the same context can be applied to more serious diseases, which makes these routine medical checkups all the more necessary in a women’s life. Plus with women juggling so many caps that of being a mother, wife, employee, daughter, sister etc all at once; they are bound to run short of their standard 24 hours. However, given the relevance of these checkups in discovering underlying conditions, which if treated can save lives; it would be nothing short of a crime to miss out on one of these checkups!
