So what has us hooked?
Coffee stimulates the central nervous system and makes the mind alert, giving a dose of energy.
Not only physically, coffee affects us mentally, makes us feel good about our immediate surroundings and ourselves.
As we start drinking more and more Coffee our body gets used to it and the affect wears off faster and we end up drinking more and more cups for “that effect”.
No wonder, you started with one cup of Coffee and now have it at least 3 times in a day.
But it is not all good
We all have drunk coffee night before the exams, why? Because it keeps us awake. But having Coffee also prevents you from getting sleep when you need to it. Hence you find yourself restless, anxious and irritable.
Coffee also leads to frequent urination causing dehydration. Hence drink plenty of water after your cup of coffee.
People tend to use excessive sugar even 4-5 sugar sachets in a single cup when drinking coffee, which shoots up blood sugar levels and increases calories.
Regular coffee drinkers notice that as few hours after they have had coffee, they get headaches, feel drowsy and anxious. These are common ‘Coffee withdrawal’ symptoms.
