Women consider skin care as the most important part of their life. They spend thousands of rupees on spa treatments, lotions, creams and pills that promise to brighten their skin tone and get rid of all the marks from their body.
Skin care regime can easily start from home. If you effectively use the ten minutes spent while bathing, you can get back the lost luster and glow to your skin. A good body scrub exfoliates the skin and gently removes the dead skin cells to reveal a radiant new layer of young and smooth skin.
Body scrubs are traditionally a luxury item and hence are generally overpriced. But who said, you have to go the beauty store and spend a huge amount of money to buy a good quality body scrub? Body scrubs can be conveniently made with kitchen ingredients.
Homemade body scrubs are inexpensive and can be easily made with natural ingredients present at home. Body scrubs made at home are very gentle and free from harmful chemicals. They are cost effective options to rejuvenate the skin.
Dr. Sharmila Patil, eminent Dermatologist from Fortis hospital says, “Body scrubs help to remove the dead cells from the skin. It exfoliates the skin and makes the skin soft and smooth. However, body scrubs should never be used on damaged skin.” She adds, “Homemade body scrubs or scrubs available in the market perform the same functions, however homemade body scrubs are cost effective and equally good for the skin.”
Most body scrubs are made of small rough grains of salt, sugar crystals, or flecks of walnut that are suspended in moisturizing and gentle bases. These grains help to exfoliate your skin by helping to loosen dead cells that can be rinsed away. The base which is generally made of honey or fruits takes care of the live skin cells left behind by providing a gentle and protective layer of moisture that will keep your skin glowing.
