Sid enjoys parties that stretch well into dawn, Sid loves to stay awake late nights and to sleep until late mornings. A sucker for late night movies, Sid bunks college and sneaks into movie halls, Sid hates book, but enjoys chatting away with friends. But now that his three years of college are over, can Sid continue with being what he is now? Can a lazy, unmotivated slacker, who is no doubt, honest, sweet, and funny, continue his sedentary lifestyle for long? There is sure something missing in here. And more than anything else, Sid needs to wake up! And wake up early, early mornings!
Just like Sid I’ve never been able to wake up early how much ever I tried. Each night I would commit to myself that I would get up early and exercise and also reach office in time, but as soon as the alarm would go off, I would hit the snooze button and go back to sleep. I hated waking up early, and losing out on sleep. Each time I tried to rise early, I failed.
It was because I loved to sleep for as many hours as possible, and then I would end up getting late for all the morning chores and work. Also, because I was a night owl, I always felt best after the sun went down. But my natural sleeping patterns were not in tune with my early office timings, and that was a big trouble.
It was then that I decided to overcome my late rising habit or the night owl chronotype, by trying to rise early. The day since I turned into an early bird, I have seen a remarkable change in myself in relation to my physical, mental and spiritual fitness. I have become much happier and cheerful than before.
As experts have found that each person has a distinct "chronotype" — a genetically programmed biological clock preference. This explains why some people like to stay up late, others are early-risers, and some sleep in on weekends.
Why be an early bird?
Sunrise: The start of a beautiful day! Our work, family, kids, home tensions and other vanity things have kept us too busy to take notice of the way a day changes, the vastness of the sky or the limitless horizons of the sea. But once you wake early, you can take notice of the way the day enfolds, moreover, vitamin D present in the morning sun is essential for the overall balance of the body system.
Happy mornings: Although the night time offers silence in abundance, the early mornings are much more serene and peaceful with freshness brimming all around. At such times, it is beneficial to take up morning workout outdoors either with greenery around or even in an open space, be it the morning walk or a good jog or even plain stretching, you get an instant energy boost and remain fresh for the whole day long. Exercise All the more, even though there are other times to exercise besides the early morning, morning exercise is virtually never canceled.
Tranquility: Early mornings when there are no kids yelling, no babies crying, no traffic noise, no television, is when you can read, and think without interruptions. This is the time when you can calmly plan down things, review your tasks for the week, see how much has been accomplished and what remains. Set your priorities first thing in the morning and complete them step by step.
A great Headstart: When you get up late, you tend to rush up with packing lunch boxes, getting your kids ready for school, preparing breakfast, doing the housekeeping, and thereby tend to be late to office. You walk into the office looking tired and sleepy, and you grumble and feel irritated. But when you wake up early, all the essential morning chores can be completed in time and you can give yourself enough time to prepare for the day ahead.
