Here is a story of Rahul Reddy and his painful mornings:
Rahul loves to play, he loves bunking college and not attending lectures, he loves tennis and horror flicks, but one thing that Rahul simply hates is his daily morning time. You may wonder why. Well, Rahul hates his mornings as it is that time of the day when he experiences a heavy stomach, pain in the abdomen, endless minutes in the loo as there is a difficulty in passing stool, and gas formation in his stomach which makes him irritable and upset.
An unforgivingly upset digestion problem, and the white coating on his tongue indicated that there sure is some thing wrong with his stomach and that has left Rahul in need of some quick remedies by which he can get rid of this pesky problem called Costipation.
So, what did Rahul do?
Well, the first step Rahul took was to thoroughly understand what caused this problem in the first place.
- He approached his family physician and understood that it was mainly slow digestion that was the main culprit.
And the doctor in turn connected slow digestion to Rahul's lack of optimum amount of exercise and his irregular eating habits. Low-fibre diets also led to a chaos with his digestive system.
- Rahul was also told that when his body demands him to go to the loo, it means he has to go! No matter, how interesting the movie may seem, it’s not worth holding on. This is because, delaying relief for long durations or on a frequent basis can cause the onset on constipation.
Rahul vowed, that henceforth, he will never control his urge to go to the loo.
- And the doctor added that when a person is constipated, no amount of pressure on the bowels would help, in fact, it could actually hurt.
- With regard to his diet, fibre-rich food was recommended and Rahul was strictly instructed to drink lots of water as dehydration is a major contributing factor towards constipation.
Rahul decided he would not have too much of food which is difficult to digest (such as meat) and would include more of vegetables and saladsin his diet.
- He was told too much of stress on his studies would tend to have an effect on his digestion process thereby leading to constipation problems.
Rahul decided to think positive and to quit smoking and consuming too much of tea and coffee.
Besides, the doctor recommended a few eay-to-follow-, quick remedies for relief from constipation:
- For easy evacuation in the morning, have a glass of warm milk before going to bed. For better results, mix two teaspoons of castor oil in the milk.
- Drink one liter of warm water, with lemon and honey immediately after waking up early in the morning.
- One to two teaspoons of aloe gel taken twice a day can be a quick remedy against constipation.
- Consume 10 to 12 big raisins which have been soaked in a cup of milk and boiled. Repeat this every morning for 3-4 days.
- As per ayurveda, drinking water that has been kept overnight in a copper vessel on an empty stomach, early morning, may help in the long run
- Use spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric powder, fennel and asafetida as they make the food easy to digest.
- Yoga is the answer to any kind of ailment that is bothering your systems, it is the key to a god mental, spiritual and physical health.
- Papaya eaten every morning is a very effective remedy against constipation.
- Dates soaked in milk and consumed also relieve constipation.
- Orange juice taken on an empty stomach in the morning also relieves constipation.
Cut to now: Rahul is feeling much better. He loves his mornings, no not the loo! He now spends more time exercising and working than in the loo! And yes, Rahul is a regular for yoga and has healthy foods and in time. Did you ask about Constipation? Oh! he does not even remember the spelling!!
