You can’t eat, you can’t sleep, you can’t concentrate and you have no control on your own self when you are in love. All the same things start bothering you when you break ties with your partner. Letting go for us humans is a very difficult thing to do and coping after breakups can be very heart breaking. Break ups may take a heavy toll on health if they are not dealt properly.
Most of the times, individuals ignore their health and are unable to cope up with their past to accept the future. Following are few tips which can help you to deal or cope with your breakup and move ahead in life.
Be Positive
Now that you have broken the ties with your ex, doesn’t mean that you should sulk. Many females, take the blame on themselves. They start thinking that they didn’t give their best to the relation. Whatever might be the reason, you have to accept the fact. You have realized that whatever happened with you was for the good. Being positive is very important because failing in relationship is not the ultimate end of the life. Approach life with positive outlook; be grateful to god and your ex, since you got to know you were not compatible for each other. You have to stop thinking about the good times you had and leave the hope of getting back together with him. Be positive and everything will fall in the right place, if you know you were really good then he doesn’t deserve you.
Food and Diet
One may get at either of the extremes after a break up – eat too much or eat too little. Both are not advisable as they affect the health adversely. It’s common to see heart broken individuals to constantly hog on junk food as they are nervous and think eating is the way to stay out of it. This may result in sudden weight gain. At the other extreme due to anxiety and loneliness the body naturally throws the food out ignoring the hunger. This results in starvation and sudden weight loss which may be accompanied by prolonged weakness.
It is all in the mind of a person and how one takes the break up and reacts to the given situation. Make sure you take care of your diet and don’t stress yourself much by thinking over the past.
Insomnia
Constant thinking and taking stress because of the breakup can lead to insomnia. Sleepless nights, thinking about how you could have saved your relation can impact your health in bad way. The inability to sleep could cause you to be late in the mornings for work; it will also lead to less concentration in work. In such circumstances, it is advised to do enough activity which will induce sleep. A walk after a dinner or a gym workout few times a week can help to sleep without any hassles. Avoid caffeine which deprives you of sleep, this includes tea, coffee, energy drinks and frozen drinks containing soda.
Depression
It is normal to feel sad and depressed after a break up. The time period may be different for different individuals. Depression may have many adverse effects on ones health, like the inability to focus and abnormal sleeping patterns. There are several ways to overcome depression after a breakup.
One may engage in activities one enjoys, like dancing, listening to music, gardening, playing with kids, reading, driving, playing music etc. Make sure you don’t hold yourself from socializing, share your worries with you friend, go out meet friends and try to enjoy life. This will not only make you feel better but also bring your health back to normal.
Going through pain after breakup is definitely sad and depressing but remember that it is not the end. So, be positive and start your life with new vigor and enthusiasm!
